WWE legend Blackjack Lanza dies aged 86.

WWE legend and WWE Hall of Famer Blackjack Lanza dies aged 86 and WWE boss Vince McMahon leads the tributes for the man hailed as having “one of the greatest minds in the business”.

76-year-old McMahon, who has an estimated fortune of 2 billion dollars, tweeted: “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Jack Lanza. He was a man’s man, respected and beloved by all. He worked for and loved WWE for many years. His loyalty and dedication will never be forgotten.”

Lanza made his pro wrestling debut back in 1961, and retired in 1985. During his career, Lanza – alongside WWE Hall of Famer Blackjack Mulligan – was a one-time WWWF World Tag Team Champion, a one-time WWA World Tag Team Champion, and a one-time NWA American Tag Team Champion.

The Blackjacks were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2016.

Legendary WWE commentator Jim Ross tweeted: “Just heard from old, Winnipeg friend Bob Holliday that Jack Lanza has passed away at the age of 86.

“Jack was our lead agent during the Attitude Era.

“Helluva hand.”

Former WWE writer, Vince Russo, wrote: “Just heard one of my True Mentors, Jack Lanza, passed away. I Loved Jack. He taught me so much. I would have never wound up where I was without him. Never. Thank you for all you passed along to me. You will never be forgotten.”

WWE Hall of Famer and number one selling author, Mick Foley, said: “I’m very sorry to learn of Jack Lanza’s passing. I enjoyed working with him very much in WWE.”
