Investigators hit the trade in fake corona vaccination passports on Wednesday following raids in southern Hesse, the Rhine-Main area and two cities in Baden-Württemberg. Twelve suspects were arrested in the raid including a 36 and a 42 year old man who are said to be behind the scam.
The passports, of which more than 300 are thought to have been sold, were being provided for up to €400 each as part of the vaccination passport forgery operation. Fake QR codes are also said to have been traded.
The twelve arrested include ten alleged buyers according to the public prosecutor’s office in Darmstadt. More than the 200 police officers and the state criminal investigation office in Wiesbaden were involved in the raid which saw more than 23 apartments and houses being searched.
The twelve arrested are expected to appear in court shortly.
