Petrol attack with threats of being set on fire in Alicante.
A man has been arrested after he reportedly sprayed petrol on customers and tables in a bar in Alicante. The man went on to threaten that he would set everything on fire.
Officers from the National Police have arrested a 41-year-old man for the alleged incident. He entered a bar carrying two jerry cans full of petrol. Customers were shocked as he sprayed them with petrol.
The incident happened early on Tuesday morning, October 19. The man had parked his motorbike outside the bar in Alicante. He then entered the bar carrying two jerry cans full of petrol. Customers in the bar look on astonished as he began pouring petrol. According to the police he then threatened to set fire to the premises. The man had a lighter in his hand as he made the threats.
The National Police were alerted to the incident by the owner of the bar. The man fled the scene. Multiple police units arrived at the bar and cordoned it off. They helped the customers. People were suffering from breathing issues and the petrol smell was intense.
The Alicante Fire Brigade swung into action. They needed to control the area and prevent spontaneous combustion. They used foam to prevent a fire.
Officers from the National Police were able to track down the man’s vehicle. Detailed descriptions of the man and the motorbike had been given. The motorbike was discovered along with the jerry cans. The cans still had traces of petrol inside.
The police then located the man. He has been arrested on suspicion of making threats and causing damage.
As reported by 20 minutes: “The National Police have detailed that, according to witnesses, the facts are due to a disagreement over the purchase and sale of a motorbike that the arrestee had bought from a relative of the owner of the bar and for which he had not been satisfied.”
