Nerja Town Hall supports World Breast Cancer Day.
The councillor for Social Services, Daniel Rivas, and the president of the Local Board of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, Aurelia López have presented a series of events which are planned to show that Nerja supports World Breast Cancer Day.
Tuesday, October 19, is World Breast Cancer Day. Information tables will be set up on the Balcon de Europa. There will also be a march through the streets of the municipality on Sunday, October 24. At the end of the march, a manifesto will be read.
The councillor commented: “Once again this year the Nerja Town Hall is involved with the AECC in the events scheduled to celebrate this important day, which aims to raise awareness and ensure that more and more women have access to controls, diagnoses and timely and effective treatments.”
To mark the day commemorative banners will be installed on the façade of the Town Hall. In the evening the town hall will be lit up in pink.
The local president of the association thanked the Town Hall for all its support and explained that “on 19 October, and Saturday, 23 October, we are going to set up information tables on the Paseo Balcon de Europa to raise funds for research and help for people suffering from the disease and their families”.
López explained that people who want to take part in the march can register on Tuesday at the tables and on Sunday at 10.30am. Speaking about the march she added: “We will leave at 12 noon from Plaza de España and we will finish with a ceremony in which we will read out the manifesto.”
