‘Missing’ Chinese billionaire heads to Spain.

According to the Hong Kong newspaper The Standard, “missing” billionaire Jack Ma has headed off to the Spanish island of Ibiza. Ma is the richest man in China. He is the founder of Alibaba.

Ma vanished from Chinese public life last year. He had criticised the financial control system in China. The Standard reported that Ma is now enjoying a holiday in Ibiza.

According to reports Ma flew to Spain on his private jet on Saturday morning. He is said to have been accompanied by “billionaires and business associates”. After travelling to Ibiza, Ma headed out on his yacht called “Zen”. His stunning yacht is said to be worth 1.6 billion Hong Kong dollars.

As part of the trip, Ma spent a few days in Hong Kong. This was said to be for pleasure and business purposes.

Ma made a controversial speech in October 2020. During the speech, he criticised the minimisation of risks in Beijing’s financial system. Since his controversial speech, he has been “missing” from public view.

Not long after the speech, regulators in China suspended the IPO of Ant Group, Alibaba’s fintech company.

Ma made a recorded speech earlier this year. His foundation was giving an award and the speech congratulated the winners. Since his video appearance, many people have speculated over where the businessmen could be.
