Colin Powell: Former US secretary of state dies of Covid complications. Powell has died aged 84.
The Former US Secretary of State’s family announced that Powell has died of COVID compilations. Powell was the first African-American secretary of state. He was appointed to the role in 2001 under George W Bush. He was also a top military officer who served in Vietnam.
Powell’s family said: “We have lost a remarkable and loving husband, father, grandfather and a great American,”
“We want to thank the medical staff… for their caring treatment.”
The family also confirmed that Powell was fully vaccinated against the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Powell had advised many leading politicians in the United States. He was considered to be a trusted military adviser.
Not only did he serve his country but he was also wounded in Vietnam.
