Andalucia is the first Spanish community to start administering a third Covid dose

The Ministry of Health and Families of the Junta de Andalucia will begin today, Monday, October 18, to administration the third dose of the Covid vaccine. Doses of Pfizer or Moderna will be given to those aged over 70 who are now six months on from receiving their second jab.
This makes Andalucia the first of the Spanish communities to start giving these third doses. to its population. Immunosuppressed patients and those in residences have already had this third injection. Vaccinations will be carried out in primary care centres throughout Andalucia, where people will also be offered the flu vaccine inoculation at the same time as the third dose of Covid vaccine.
To do this, an appointment must be requested through ClicSalud + by visiting      http://lajunta.es/2a5ny, through the mobile application and the Salud Responde, or alternatively, by telephone on 955 54 50 60. It can also be done at the local health centre, preferably by phoning first to make an appointment.

The Public Health Commission approved the third booster shots on October 5

It was agreed on October 5, by the Public Health Commission, to administer this third booster dose, together with the flu vaccine, to those over 70 years of age. This will then be followed by the group of 65 to 70 years. Internal reports that support this twin vaccination suggested that it could be done, as long as they are inoculated “in different anatomical places”.
Last Friday 15, Andalucia began to administer the flu vaccine to people institutionalized in nursing homes and disability centres. This Monday 18, they start the campaign against the flu for those over 65, regardless of whether or not they have pathologies. It will also be available to people over six months of age with chronic diseases, as well as pregnant and postpartum women.
In total, almost 52,600 flu doses will be administered throughout Andalucia, and it is the first autonomous community to start the 2021/2022 campaign. The administration of the vaccine to nursing home workers, and to all health and social health personnel in Andalucia has also begun. 1,645,000 doses of vaccine have been purchased, as reported by 101tv.es.
