Young Irish man found dead in a swimming pool on the Costa del Sol

Spanish police on the Costa del Sol in Spain are investigating the death of a 24-year-old Irish man after his body was found in a swimming pool in the holiday resort of Marbella. Friends of the deceased reportedly found his lifeless body in the water at around 10.25am on the morning of Friday, October 15, when they woke up and went outside into the garden area of the holiday home they were staying in.
A call was allegedly made to the emergency services by one of the man’s friends, who immediately mobilised the police, and an ambulance with medics, to the scene. In the meantime, his friends reportedly recovered the man’s body from the pool.
On arrival at the location – reported to be Finca la Judia, on Calle Camino del Angel, in the Marbella district of Nueva Andalucia – the medical team checked the body for signs of life, but there was nothing they could do to help, and the young man was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to independent.ie, a spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs informed them that they were aware of the case and that consular assistance was being provided to all involved.
No further information regarding the identity of the deceased has been released by the investigating police force in Marbella. It is known that a local court is handling the routine investigation into the incident. The body has reportedly been transferred to Malaga’s Institute of Forensic Medicine, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted, as reported by independent.ie.
