ALMERIA province greenhouses generate 32,000 tons of plastics each year.

This amounts to 7 per cent of the total produced by Spain’s agricultural sector, Almeria’s fruit and vegetable producers’ association, APROA, revealed.

The association pointed out that 95 per cent of these materials were recycled, adding that there was no substitute for plastic in the province’s intensive production methods that were also “economically, socially and environmentally sustainable.”

APROA went on to explain that the type of plastics that growers use were the result of years of research and created to produce healthy food year-round, which would not be possible without greenhouses.

There is a thing called glass which works very well in greenhouses and does not pollute the Oceans soils and people. Usual farmers trying justify polluting processes.
