COOKERY CONTEST: Winner Mar Sierra Grande with her prize Photo credit: Mojacar town hall
THE Mojacar Branch of the Red Cross recently held its second Cookery Contest.
Organised for local senior citizens belonging to its Care for the Elderly programme, the competition was cancelled last year owing to Covid restrictions.
This year, participants in the programme asked for its return and, as in the prevision edition, each prepared a signature dish at home.
They later took these along to Mojacar’s Red Cross centre where the 36 experienced cooks met up and sampled each other’s dishes.
These were also judged by a jury that included Mojacar’s mayor Rosa Maria Cano, with the first prize going to Mar Sierra Grande for her Christmas Cake.
