GMB’s Susanna Reid ‘told off’ for staycation comments as she returns after summer break.

Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid recently spent time in stunning Cornwall, but she has revealed that she got “told off” for calling her break a “staycation”.

Susanna returned to the show today after her summer break to the delight of fans. She appeared alongside co-host Ben Shephard.

Commenting on her time in Cornwall she said: “It was gorgeous, I got told off for calling it a staycation. It’s not a staycation Ben.

Ben commented: “Because you’re not staying at home…”.

Susanna replied: “But I thought stay at home, was staying in the UK and having a lovely holiday in the UK. More fool me.”

Ben set out to define exactly what a staycation is and said: “A staycation is when you holiday in your home, you stay in your home.”

“I thought that was lockdown?!” Susanna quickly joked and added: “Thank you to the good people of Cornwall for being so kind and gorgeous and for, frankly, providing us good weather.

“There were glimmers of sunshine, glimmers”.

Susanna made a short return to the show in August to help out Kate Garraway who wanted to head off on holiday. The holiday was her first without husband Derek.

Speaking before the holiday Kate said “Derek’s family are descending to take care of Derek while I take the kids away,”

“I want to say a massive thank you to Susanna, she has been very kind.

“I had a very tight window where I could get everybody to come and look after Derek.

“Obviously he’ll have nurses as well, but I also needed friends to help us because I think the three of us are quite emotional about going away without him.”
