Help for towns to combat Covid expenses in Spain’s Almeria.

The Provincial Council of Almeria have launched a second line of financial aid which will help municipalities in the Almeria province with costs associated with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The money will help buy materials and perform disinfection actions to protect the health of the public and prevent the disease from spreading further.

This is the second time that the Provincial Council have approved financial aid for the 103 town councils and smaller local entities within Almeria. The first programme was carried out in 2020, with the same aims.

The second line of aid will cost a staggering 1 million euros and the money will be put to good use within Almeria.

The deputy for the Presidency, Fernando Gimenez, highlighted that: “this programme is part of the triple protection budget: social, health and economic, which the Provincial Institution has designed for this year with the main objective of ensuring that no Almerian is left behind in the current situation. As a town council of town councils, the Provincial Council has to be at the side of all town councils, especially the smaller ones, so that they have resources in the fight against the coronavirus”.

He also commented that: “one of the commitments that the president of the Provincial Council, Javier A. Garcia, gave the government team from the beginning of the health emergency, was to help all municipalities so that they could meet the costs caused by Covid-19 and that the council was at the side of the municipalities and, above all, at the side of each and every one of the people of Almeria”.
