Threatening squatter leaves after owners pay up. Residents of Masalfasar in Valencia have finally seen their nightmare come to an end after threatening squatters have finally left a property in the small town.

Squatters had been living in the house for many months and had made life impossible for people living in the small town in Valencia. According to reports the squatters had been living in the property for nearly half a year. Today Wednesday, August 11, they have finally left the property after receiving a considerable amount of money from the bank which owns the property.

As the squatters left the property they stopped to speak to the press and were called out for what many consider to be extortion. According to reports the man and his partner only left after making sure that money was given to them in exchange for leaving, something that the squatter has denied.

The squatter said: “I asked them that if they wanted to make a contribution they could do so, nothing more”.

It was put to him that he had extorted money but he reacted and said “No, that’s not exactly the way it is. I asked them to pay if they wanted to so that we could leave earlier”.

According to Antena 3, the bank paid around 3,500 euros to get the squatters to leave, something which is extremely unusual.

One neighbour spoke out with relief and said: “What justice has not been able to achieve, the media and pressure from the people have achieved”,

“Now at least we will be able to sleep a little more peacefully, although we will always have fear in our bodies”.
