British Diplomats visited Mallorca

President Armengol and Lloyd Milen Credit: Balearic Government

TWO British Diplomats, Lloyd Milen and Sarah Cowley visited Mallorca and Balearic President Francina Armengol on August 9.
Lloyd Milen is the British Consul General in Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Aragon and Andorra whilst Sarah Cowley is based in the British Embassy to Spain in Madrid.
Following the meeting, Milen hosted a press conference where he gave his opinion of the situation regarding British holidaymakers and the Balearics and confirmed his understanding that the UK traffic light system would not be reviewed for the next two to three weeks.
Looking at Spain in general and the Balearics in particular, he hoped that the situation would remain positive and that if the health analysis proved that infection was not increasing then hoped that British tourists could continue to visit without worrying about quarantine.
He compared the vaccination campaigns in the two countries and said that the more people who are vaccinated, the safer it would be for all both residents and visitors.
The Consul General also commented on the fact that the UK is determined to educate young people to respect other countries when they are on holiday and praised the actions being taken by the Balearic Government to ensure that young people don’t act irresponsibly.
