POLICE in Valencia have arrested a man after he threatened his mother with a knife

National Police officers in Valencia arrested a 42-year-old man – with a previous police record – on Friday, August 6, suspected of being the perpetrator of a crime of threatening behaviour, as well as being in breach of a restraining order that was in place against him, after he allegedly went to his mother’s home and threatened her with a knife, while demanding she gave him money.

The events leading up to his arrest began at the start of this week, when the 091 emergency number received a call urging the assistance of the police at a home in the Patraix district of Valencia, with the caller reporting a man at her home who was threatening her with a knife, while demanding money from her, but by the time the responding officers arrived at the scene, the aggressor had already left.

It was then reported that this same suspect had returned on two more occasions, only this time threatening to kill the woman if she didn’t give him money, or informed the police of him, with the victim telling officers that on the one occasion her son had managed to escape out of the window and climb down some pipes into the inner courtyard after realising the police patrol had arrived.

During their investigations, it came to light that the mother had a restraining order in place against her son, who was under instructions from a judge not to go within 300 metres of his mother.

Finally, the man was arrested on Friday after a motorbike patrol that was out on prevention detail, identified a man fitting the description of the alleged suspect wanted over the threatening behaviour, observing him in a vocal episode rebuking others at a bus stop in the city. After making the appropriate inquiries, the officers verified that he was the suspect, and he was immediately detained and taken into custody, as reported by cadenaser.com.
