The summer triathlon school in Almeria is bringing families together and will run until late August. Around 50 young people will be attending the excellent initiative which brings sport to the area and family tourism too.

Rocio Sanchez, Councillor for the Presidency, along with Pepe Rubi, Councillor for Sports and Leisure, Francisco Barrionuevo, Councillor for Tourism and Beaches, and Francisco Garcia, President of the Association of Tourist Promoters, have visited the summer school for triathlon and seen exactly what it brings to the Almeria area.

Sanchez spoke of the upcoming competitions and said: “the initiative and the support that the Town Hall is providing, which is not only reflected in the sport of these children but also in being able to visit the town of Roquetas and participate in the upcoming Triathlon competitions that we are going to carry out. Therefore, from the Consistory we want to say that we are at the side of our young people, of our sport, and we will do everything necessary to make it clear that Roquetas is a municipality of sport, tourism and services. I would also like to thank the president of the hoteliers, who has worked tirelessly to make this Summer School a reality today”.

A triathlon competition will be held later this month for both children who have joined in the school and other people who wish to compete. Rubi said: “the Town Hall will hold a competion on 27 August in Avenida de La Legion, on the beach of La Romanilla, for these children and all those in the municipality who wish to participate.”

“Once again, I would like to thank the parents for their confidence in these great professionals we have”.

This is the first time that the triathlon school has come to Almeria and Barrionuevo explained how the initiative hopes to: “promote both sport and tourism because we have all the necessary ingredients to achieve this. We are sure that initiatives like this will attract visits from both sportsmen and women and their families. Sport and tourism go hand in hand”.
