The Museum of Vélez-Málaga resumes the concert programme this summer.

THE Vélez-Málaga Town Hall’s Culture Department is resuming its summer schedule of Thursday performances at the MUVEL following the pandemic interruption in July and August. This is the third edition of a highly successful initiative that reintroduces musical activity to the Museum of Velez-Málaga, which will hold seven performances.
Cynthia Garca, councillor for Culture, emphasised that “the Museum of Velez-Málaga, which was recently inducted into the Andalucia Register of Museums, has established itself as a cultural touchstone in the region through a variety of thematic and educational activities in addition to the permanent exhibitions it houses, perfectly complementing the sun and beach tourism with cultural attractions.
Emilio Martín, director of the Museum, revealed that the Muvel’s Summer Concert series would kick off on July 8 with Maestro Iribarren’s ‘Concert of Baroque Music.’ Flamenco will take over the MUVEL on July 15 with the concert ‘Flamenco en Andalucia’. To conclude the month of July, a wind concert will be held on the 29th, and the MUVEL will be invaded by ‘World Music.’
August will begin with ‘Romances de Zarzuela’ on the 5th. The MUVEL will hold a performance as part of the Flamenco Biennial of Flamenco, organised by the Diputación de Málaga, on August 12. The concert will include the flamenco guitarist Chaparro de Málaga performing his work ‘Chaparreando’. The MUVEL will hold a pop opera concert by Los Tres Tenores on Thursday, 19th. On August 26, the month bids farewell to the MUVEL with the music of piano, courtesy of Paula Coronas and her show ‘La emoción desde el Piano’.
Seating is restricted, and individuals interested in attending should request admission in advance through email to mvvel@velezmalaga.es. Please contact 647 212 729 for additional details.
On June 26 at 11.30am, the MUVEL will also hold a free children’s puppet show based on the narrative of ‘Peneque y el fantasma del MUVEL’ (Peneque and the ghost of the MUVEL). Admission is free until the venue reaches capacity.
