ANTI-NOISE BYLAWS: In force during July and August Photo credit: Calpe town hall

CALPE’S anti-noise bylaws will be enforced as usual after July 1.

Noise from building sites will be limited to a strict timetable throughout July and banned entirely during August.

Last year was an exception, with the town hall deciding that it was more important to alleviate the effects of the State of Alarm on the local construction sector when all but essential work was halted.

Heavy machinery, including pile-drivers, diggers or radial saws may not be used at all between July 1 and September 15.

As in pre-pandemic days, noisy building construction can be carried out in July only between 9am and 2pm and from 5pm until 8pm although exceptions will be made for emergency work “in the public interest.”

Minor individual DIY projects that neither produce noise nor disturb neighbours will still be allowed in August, the town hall confirmed.

The Euro Weekly News is running a campaign to help reunite residents in Spain with family and friends by capping the cost of PCR tests for travel. Please help us to urge the UK government to cap the cost.

Linda came to Spain to live when she was 24, just over 52 years ago, and her husband is Spanish. She began writing for English-language local newspapers in the mid-1970s and hasn’t stopped since! She leads a Spanish life, which she believes is vital when conveying the news to English-speaking residents, and along the way she produced two editions of Expand Your Spanish, helping English-speakers to enlarge their knowledge of the language. She was excited to be in at the birth of the Euro Weekly News in 1999 and is still passionately writing for the paper 22 years later.
