AS Almeria prepares for its second summer of the pandemic it can also prepare for a good tourist season.

According to the online hotel reservations website www.quehoteles.com, national and international tourists are choosing Almeria this summer.

At present the Costa de Almeria one of Spain’s five most popular destinations along with the Canary Islands, Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca and the Costa de la Luz on Andalucia’s Atlantic coast.

The website also revealed that although future visitors are making province-wide reservations, Mojacar and Roquetas stand out as favourites.

“This summer could be the starting point for re-establishing national tourism sector,” www.quehoteles.com told Almeria’s provincial media.

All-inclusive holidays account for 30 per cent of Almeria’s summer 2021 reservations so far, which is seven percentage points up on 2019, the website said.

Holiday apartments bookings – 23 per cent of the tally to date – are three percentage points higher than in 2019.

“But the  most striking aspect is the great increase in refundable reservations, accounting for 99 per cent of the total.  Flexibility regarding cancellations is key for clients,” the website said.
