Bitter blow for Aguadulce

THE Aguadulce en Marcha political party protested about the substitution of an Aguadulce road sign.

The sign on the main road telling drivers they were leaving the Aguadulce boundary in El Cañarete has been replaced another indicating that they are leaving Roquetas de Mar.

Aguadulce might be part of Roquetas but it is also a town in its own right and was treated as such when the road was part of the central government’s network, Aguadulce en Marcha argued on its social media pages.

Now that the road has reverted to Roquetas, its name has disappeared in El Cañarete. “Roquetas’ mentality is obvious.  It does not respect us as one of the municipality’s towns,” the party complained.  “It has been trying to erase the name of Aguadulce for 30 years.”
