ONE sign of a steady return to normality is the fact that the popular Sala Golf events are back on the programme of things to do on the Costa del Sol.
Their second golf day this year took place on the Los Flamingos, Villa Padierna course last Saturday April 24 and happily the golfing gods were smiling as the bad weather that preceded and followed was banished and the entire day was marked with clear blue skies and plenty of sun.
Those taking part were welcomed with a touch of La Sala’s signature hospitality, with crispy bacon sandwiches on arrival alongside a selection of the latest Sala Golf merchandise to take home as keepsakes.
Cold beers were handed out by Sala Ambassadors with Tine from International Marbella keeping everyone hydrated and refreshed on the 10th tee with a Gin & Tonic Bar and homemade sausage rolls.
Huge congratulations were due to Ryan McDonald, Joe Statham and Joe Crowley for winning the closest to the pin and longest drive prizes and to Individual Winner Aaron Kavanagh who managed to finish with 41 points, giving him victory in two Sala Golf events in a row.
For the team prizes, The Marbella Muppets came in with a team score of 85 points, just beating The Pink Panthers on a countback. The runner up team of the day was The Mickeys, coming in with 86 points. And finally, team winner of the day, with a team score of 90 points, was Gecko and The Bogeymen who owned the day bringing home the main prize!
New addition to the league Matt Nuttall took home the wooden spoon trophy for the first time, and accepted it like a PRO!
So far, Sala Golf has raised more than €3000 for their charity, The Elena Gaite Foundation.
Their next event is to be held at Atalaya Golf & Country Club on May 15 2021 so please contact Harry Radcliffe to register and keep up to date with upcoming events at www.lasalabanus.com.
With travel across provinces in Andalucia now allowed, it is worth thinking about paying a visit to one of the Costa del Sol’s top bars and restaurants, La Sala Banus and now the fabulous beach club, La Sala by the Sea is re-opening for the summer season on April 30 where guests can enjoy the stylish Thai inspired beachfront destination that is filled with plenty of sun, sea, soft sand, sumptuous dining and laidback Mediterranean vibes.
