CUCUMBERS, courgettes and aubergines are not proving to be moneymakers for Almeria growers this spring.
The weather has not helped, announced the Junta’s Prices and Markets Observatory. Good conditions brought on the province’s courgettes which coincided earlier this month with a time when other countries’ produce was flooding the international markets.
Aubergines were no luckier, as average prices fell 38 per cent in the course of a week while Almeria’s cucumbers fell by 49 per cent compared with the previous seven days, although sales have now picked up in the Netherlands.
