ARCADI ESPAÑA: Thousands of properties built on rural land could be legalised, Territorial Policies chief said Photo credit:

THE regional government has opened the door to legalising 75,402 Alicante province properties that are built on rural land.

Elche, with 13,228 “unregulated” homes, has more than any other municipality, followed by Orihuela (7,492), Crevillent (3,501) Alicante (3,028) and Torrevieja with just 147.

According to the Spanish media, Arcadi España –   in charge of the Generalitat’s Territorial Policies department – said that the process will be handled by the new Elche-based Agencia Valenciana de Proteccion del Territorio (Valencian Territorial Protection Agency).

If all goes according to plan, a total of Valencian Community 350,000 homes could be legalised by the end of 2021, España said.
