IT will now be easier for Villajoyosa’s Local Police to evict squatters.
Public Safety councillor Isabel Perona signed a collaboration agreement with La Vila’s courts that establishes set procedures to make it easier and quicker to remove occupants from illegally-occupied properties.
“The protocol is designed to put into practice the legal mechanisms that ensure time-consuming preliminary procedures have been completed by the time a case reaches the judge,” Perona said.
“This is a social problem that exists at national level, affecting law and order as well as public safety, creating problems that our own municipality has experienced first-hand,” the councillor added.
