RAILINGS are being added to Avenida de Tokio which gives access to La Cruz (Cross) that crowns the Sierra Helada.
“We are installing 442 metres of wooden fencing with a handrail for greater protection in the steepest sections,” said Benidorm’s Public Spaces councillor, Jose Ramon Gonzalez de Zarate.
There will also be parking spaces where the road is wide enough, he added.
“This means the public can leave their cars nearer to La Cruz and enjoy strolling in the Sierra Helada national park,” De Zarate pointed out.
Access to the Cruz itself was restricted to pedestrians in September last year although those with reduced mobility can email controlaccesos@benidorm.org for authorisation to use their vehicle.
