FIRST-EVER Covid nasal spray goes on sale at Lloyds Pharmacy.

Lloyds pharmacy are selling the UK’s first-ever Covid nasal spray. The spray comes in at £15 and is said to ‘irreversibly’ block the Coronavirus according to Retail Gazette reports. The nasal spray will be launched in-store on April 21 and the product is already available for purchase online.

The product is simple to use and needs to be squirted into each nostril four times a day. The nasal spray comes under the brand name Viraleze and can be used by children aged over 12 years, and by adults.

Reportedly the spray can offer 99.9 per cent protection, but the spray is not a replacement for coronavirus safety measures. According to Lloyds pharmacy the virus can combat

  • “SARS-CoV-2 (the coronavirus that causes COVID-19)
  • MERS-CoV (the coronavirus that causes MERS)
  • SARS-CoV (the coronavirus that causes SARS)
  • H1N1 (the influenza virus that caused Swine Flu)
  • H3N2 (the influenza virus that caused Avian Flu)
  • RSV (respiratory syncytial virus)”

The nasal spray seeks to create a barrier to block viruses. According to Lloyds pharmacy the nasal spray “interaction is ‘virucidal’,” meaning that the virus is irreversibly blocked and can no longer infect cells.

“This provides a physical barrier to respiratory viruses. In the nasal cavity, “blocked” viruses would be cleared naturally through the nasal mucus.”
