NATIONAL POLICE in Barcelona arrested a dangerous criminal who was on the run from the French authorities after being sentenced to life in prison in France.

The detainee was the leader of a criminal organization and, according to the French authorities, ordered and participated in settling of scores that resulted in the deaths of several people, including some innocent underage victims.

The French police had warned of his dangerous and violent nature, saying that he could be armed.

He was located and arrested by National Police in the lobby of a hotel in the centre of Barcelona with his partner, who was also arrested for carrying false documents.

The fugitive had two European Arrest Warrants against him issued by the French police, one for serious assaults and injuries with a firearm, and the other for manslaughter with firearms, causing bodily harm with the use of prohibited weapons, kidnapping, extortion and drug trafficking.

The investigations began at the end February 2020, when the French National Police transmitted a request for his location and arrest.

The first crime for which he was wanted occurred in October 2017 in the French town of Besançon, and he was sentenced to three years in prison.

Between December 2019 and June 2020, he ordered and participated in several settlings of scores for which he faces a life sentence.
