Valentine’s Day blaze tackled by 40 firefighters in Birmingham.

A House blaze in Birmingham’s Selly Oak was tackled by over 40 Firefighters during the early hours of Valentine’s Day. The home which is located next to the Masalla Merchant restaurant on Pershore Road, was hit by the blaze and smoke was seen rising from the home’s roof.

West Midlands Fire service attended the scene shortly after midnight after a 999 call was received to report the house fire. Initially four crews were sent to the scene although as the fire grew a further four crews were sent to help out with fighting the fire. A hydraulic platform was also employed in order to tackle the blaze.

Reportedly no one has been injured in the blaze and the cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.

Multiple crews attended the scene including those from Kings Norton, Billesley, Highgate and Woodgate Valley. After the firefighters successfully beat the fire and returned to the Woodgate fire station amongst others a spokesman took to Twitter and tweeted, “Blue Watch just returned from Pershore Road, Selly Oak, incident. Stay safe.”

They later sent a valentine’s wish and tweeted “Roses are red, Its been a long night for blue. Dont you worry, 6pm we’ll be back for you Happy Valentine’s Day. Stay safe.”
