Lucky shopper María Gracia López Salado has bagged a new car – top prize in a drive to boost local trade.
MORE than 30,000 names were entered into the draw in the raffle organised by associations of local merchants: Comercio Sexitano, Comercio Vivo de Almuñécar and the Association of Merchants, Craftsmen and Professionals of La Herradura, in collaboration with Almuñécar Council.
The winning ticket was drawn in the Plaza de la Constitución on Monday, January 4, in the presence of Mayor Trinidad Herrera and the Councilor for Commerce, Francisco Robles, together with commerce representatives.
Winner Maria said she “could not quite believe it” as she was presented with the keys for a five-door Peugeot by local dealer Avenida Costa Motor, through its agent José María Corral.
She said she had taken part in the initiative in different local businesses but the lucky one was obtained in the “Little Baúl” establishment run by Conchi Béjar Cuesta.
“After the car I can only ask for health and work,” said Maria.
Herrera stressed the importance of supporting local businesses and buying locally “even more so at this time, after such a painful 2020 for everyone”.
Herrera said the initiative “has been an incentive that has encouraged people to buy in Almuñécar and La Herradura and to participate in this raffle.
“We have seen the number of participants there have been and it brings great satisfaction and joy to see commerce has sold and that people have responded by buying in our municipality. ”
The mayor of Commerce, Francisco Robles Rivas, recalled the raffle for this car “is part of the campaigns to support the commercial sector that we launched this past year from the Sexitano City Council along with other promotions.
“I was very happy that this initiative has awakened great Interest among customers of local businesses, as has been reflected in the large number of entries, “said Robles.
