POLICE raid a church with over 100 maskless worshipers in Germany

Police in Germany were forced to break up a church service in the town of Herford in the western state of North Rhine-Westphalia on Saturday evening, January 2, when they found that the 200 strong congregation was celebrating mass without wearing protective masks.

In light of a surge in coronavirus infections in the country, Germany has implemented strict guidelines on gatherings, which prohibits groups of more than 20 people from congregating indoors. In addition, social distancing and correct hygiene measures must be maintained.

Local police said that many of the people present at the church faced hefty fines. Interestingly, singing is also prohibited indoors as evidence has shown it can lead to a wider spread of infection.
