EXTREME weather forces evacuations in Sierra de Madrid as hundreds visitors are stranded for hours.
The Sierra de Madrid saw freezing temperatures over the weekend and a massive number of visitors to the area. This caused the Guardia Civil to limit access and evacuate visitors. Car parks were also full and traffic jams led to further issues.
The return bus line to Madrid was hit by snow and ice, which along with massive numbers of visitors led to 350 people being evacuated from Navacerrada. Summa 112, the Red Cross and Forest agents have been put on alert in the area after temperatures of minus seven were recorded, that with wind chill felt like minus 20.
