Body of missing man found in car on the seabed

THE body of Manuel Rodriguez, 54, who disappeared on December 10 from Baio-Zas, A Coruña, was found in his car in the nearby port of Laxe.

Two divers found the vehicle, a blue Daewoo Nubira, at a depth of about 12 metres, upside down with the man’s body inside.

Guardia Civil and the coroner’s office attended the scene and the man’s body was later taken to Coruña University Hospital Complex where an autopsy will be carried out.

When he was reported missing, he was not carrying his heart medicine and only had a backpack with some clothes and a mobile phone charger.

He withdrew €40 from his account at a cash point and transferred €700 to his son’s account, leaving nothing in his own. He left his home on December 10 at 6.30am to go to work.

Searches have been carried out in the area since, finally resulting in the discovery of the body of the missing man yesterday, Sunday, December 20, in his car on the seabed of the port.
