THIS month’s edition of the Traveler magazine devoted a long article to the Cala Alto Observatory. Escribano was quick to comment on Almeria’s links to the movie stars who shot Hollywood films there in the Seventies and the heavenly stars that Cala Alto has observed since it opened in 1973. He also explained that the centre opened following an agreement between the Spanish and German governments but was initially used solely by German scientists although shared with their Spanish counterparts from 2005. Since 2019 it is entirely Spanish-run.
