THE missing Great Pyramid of Giza relic has been found in Scotland, in a cigar box after a century. It is one of only three relics ever recovered from the insides of the Great Pyramid.
The lucky discovery occurred at the University of Aberdeen and is from the Queens Chamber. Abeer Eladany, Curatorial assistant from Egypt, came across the relic after noticing an Egyptian flag on a cigar box. To her surprise, hidden inside was the relic that had been lost for over 100 years.
Eladany said, “The university’s collections are vast – running to hundreds of thousands of items – so looking for it has been like finding a needle in a haystack. I couldn’t believe it when I realised what was inside this innocuous-looking cigar tin.”
The pieces of wood were originally part of the “Dixon Relics” and after being given to the University they could not be found. The relic was discovered in 1872 along with two other items in the Queens Chamber.
