Italian mafia in Tenerife

THREE members of the Italian mafia were arrested by National Police in Tenerife.

In collaboration with the Castello di Cisterna Carabinieri Investigation Unit, three members of the Mariniello clan were arrested in Tenerife at the same time as another five members of the clan were arrested in Italy.

The Italian authorities had issued a European Arrest Warrant against them for belonging to a criminal organisation, blackmail and loan-sharking.

The operation began in late 2018 when the National Police learned of the presence of several Italians thought to belong to the clan which is very active in the Naples area, in Spain, who were involved in a number of criminal activities.

Once identified, they were put under surveillance, resulting in their arrests this week at the same time as the members in Italy were detained.
