Joachim Löw remains Germany coach despite rumours he may be sacked

JOACHIM Löw remains Germany coach despite rumours he may be sacked following the heavy humiliating defeat to Spain.

In an announcement by the German Football Association on Monday, November 30, following a conference call with Presidial Committee and DFB Director Oliver Bierhoff, Löw will lead the German national team until his contract runs out before the 2022 World Cup.

The 60-year-old should “continue the path of renewal that has been embarked on since March 2019 without restriction,” said an association statement.

The future of the national coach, who has been coach of the German national side since 2006, has been in danger since the 6-0 defeat in Seville against Spain in the Nations League two weeks ago.

The statement continued: “The members of the executive committee agreed that the high quality work of the coaching staff, the intact relationship between team and coach and a clear concept for the previous and future procedures count,” stating that a single game “cannot and must not be a yardstick for the general performance of the national team and the national coach”.
