BREAKING News – Gas explosion in a house in Torrevieja, Costa Blanca South
A violent gas explosion occurred at 6:17am on the first floor of a house on Avenida Diego Ramírez Pastor crossing with Calle Apolo de Torrevieja. The explosion, which reportedly took place in a bathroom, has obliterated the front facade of the house and rained rubble and furniture down onto the street below.
Officials say the explosion may have been caused by the accumulation of several gas and gasoline canisters on the property, with technicians and the Guardia Civil currently assessing the rubble to determine the cause.
The other residents of the building have been evacuated. CICU sources confirmed that no injuries have thus far been reported, although they are still trying to locate the whereabouts of the owner of the house. Several vehicles parked on the street have been damaged by falling rubble.
