WARNING: Spanish police issue national warning over thieves posing as charity workers and drugging their victims
The Policia Nacional has warned of scammers operating throughout Spain posing as NGO charity workers for a group called Clean Hands. Officials report that the thieves put a little gel sanitizer on your hands and ask you to smell the product.
The hand sanitizer is actually a drug which renders people unconscious; once they regain consciousness, they find that they have been robbed.
The Policia Nacional advises people not to engage with anyone offering products, surveys etc on the streets, regardless of any id or proof they may be carrying. They also ask that members of the public not to accept drinks in bars from anyone they do not know.
As these dangerous scammers are operating throughout Spain, police have asked members of the public to share the warning as much as possible.
