CONFINEMENT in Valencia: the Generalitat closes the municipalities of Elda and Petrer due to the lack of control of the coronavirus

The Generalitat Valenciana has agreed to the perimeter confinement of the Alicante municipalities of Elda and Petrer due to the high incidence of coronavirus detected in both towns. The confinement will begin on Saturday, November 7, and will last for the next fourteen days.

Meanwhile, throughout the Valencian community, new restrictions have been announced which will limit bars and restaurants to a third capacity indoors and 50 per cent outdoors. The new restrictions will be in effect from midnight this Saturday to December 9 at 11:59 p.m.

In recent weeks, the coronavirus curve has skyrocketed to reach 258 infected per 100,000 inhabitants. Meanwhile, the positivity rate already exceeds sixteen percent, three points above the national average.

In this regard, the pressure on the healthcare system has been increasing, reaching 1,333 people admitted to hospitals in the Valencian Community, with a total of 1,894 deaths in Valencia.
