Bookies back Biden: The Democratic candidate now hot favourite

Bookies back Biden: The Democratic candidate is now hot favourite with the bookmakers at massive 1/5 odds

Joe Biden has raced ahead of Donald Trump in the presidential election after a rollercoaster 24 hours, with the former vice presidents odds sitting at 1/5 on Thursday, November 5.

Over the last few days bookies saw the odds flipping back and forth between the two candidates, but Biden surged ahead on Wednesday night when he secured Wisconsin and Michigan for the Democrats, and as mail-in ballots continue to be counted in Pennsylvania, Georgia and Nevada.

Trump’s odds on winning, which were 69 per cent when results showed he had outperformed polls after their closure Tuesday, have plummeted to just 9/2 at around 10am Thursday, according to aggregate site oddschecker.

The predictions are based on betting markets outside the United States, the majority European, as it is illegal for Americans to gamble on politics.
