Thai Airways launches spiritual “flight to nowhere”

Thai Airways International has launched a spiritual “flight to nowhere” for passengers who want to recite mantras while flying over 99 of Thailand’s holiest Buddhist religious sites.

Wiwat Piyawiroj, executive vice president for Thai’s commercial operations, said the one-off “new flight experience” is part of a programme aimed at the boosting domestic tourism sector, in line with the government’s policy.

Passengers on the three-hour flight dubbed “THAI Magical Flying Experience” on November 30 will fly over 31 of Thailand’s 77 provinces before returning to the capital.

Celebrity fortune teller and religion history expert, Dr. Khata Chinbunchon, will lead the in-flight chanting of Buddhist mantras.

Economy class tickets for the flight start from 5,999 baht (€165) for economy class and 9,999 baht (€275) for premium class.
