Teenager killed in crash after police pursuit

A TEENAGER has died in a crash in Stalybridge after a police pursuit.

Just after 6pm on Tuesday, November 3, officers were called to a report of an attempted burglary on Ambleside, Stalybridge.

“Officers followed a vehicle believed to be involved, a VW Golf, which later collided with a wall on Wakefield Road at 6.30pm,” said Greater Manchester Police.

“Emergency services attended but sadly the driver, a teenage boy, was pronounced dead at the scene.”

A second teenager, a 16-year-old passenger, was taken to hospital by paramedics in a “serious condition”.

Enquiries are ongoing and a cordon was in place last night whilst an investigation takes place.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 2146 of 03/11/20.

The incident has been referred to GMP’s Professional Standards Branch and the IOPC.
