900 marijuana plants seized from a car during Covid checks in Benferri

TWO men have been arrested after almost 900 marijuana plants were seized from a car boot during Covid checks in Benferri, Vega Baja del Segura.

Guardia Civil officers were carrying out Covid-19 security checks on the A7 near the town of Benferri when they unknowingly pulled over a car containing a large amount of the drug.

After becoming suspicious of the drivers, the officers searched the car and discovered the huge stash of 900 marijuana plants in the boot, and subsequently, the two men were arrested.

The two men, one aged 42 and the other 29, of Swiss and Moroccan nationalities, were detained for being the alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health, and for cultivating and producing the narcotic substances.
