CHINA’S biggest video games and social media company, Tencent, reports that its flagship video game, Honor of Kings, has 100 million daily active users worldwide as it looks to expand its business outside the game.

The company announced a record 100 million daily active users and is now looking to expand into new genres after Honor of Kings became the top-grossing mobile game worldwide for September 2020 with close to $240 million (€206 million) in user spending, according to Sensor Tower.

This represents an 87 percent growth from September 2019.

Honor of Kings, the multi-player role-playing game that allows players to hack their way through battle arenas, is the world’s most lucrative mobile game.

As it celebrates its fifth anniversary, game director and general manager of Tencent’s Timi Studios Li Min, told Reuters:

“We are going to expand how players can interact with the Honor of Kings world and create a multi-dimensional brand experience that drives engagement both inside the game and outside it. This could include anime, films, music and even live action series.”

Tencent is looking to expand the Honor of Kings world from multiplayer online battle arena into two more unspecified genres by launching two new untitled derivative games.

Timi Studios said on Sunday, November 1, that it had also introduced an officially-licensed Bruce Lee look to the game.
