Farage is set to battle Boris for PM as he harnesses lockdown hatred

NIGEL Farage is set to battle Boris Johnson for PM as he harnesses the Covid lockdown hatred from the UK public.

Farage is set to recast his small Brexit Party as Reform UK as he looks to use the fear and chaos caused by the announcement of a second national lockdown to challenge for the UK Prime Minister role.

The British politician, who helped forced a Brexit referendum and successfully campaigned to leave the European Union, is also a close friend of U.S. President Donald Trump and has spoken alongside the president in the election campaign.

In a joint article with Brexit Party chairman Richard Tice, Farage told The Daily Telegraph: “The single most pressing issue is the government’s woeful response to coronavirus.”

“Ministers have lost touch with a nation divided between the terrified and the furious. The debate over how to respond to COVID is becoming even more toxic than that over Brexit.”

Farage has said lockdowns don’t work as he is set to battle Boris for PM instead proposing those most a risk, like the sick and the elderly, should be targeted for protection and isolation, which his supporters, and those against the restrictions, will love to hear as he harnesses lockdown hatred.

He has said ordinary people should not be criminalised for trying to live normal lives: “The rest of the population should, with good hygiene measures and a dose of common sense, get on with life. This way we build immunity in the population.”

Johnson, according to Farage, has terrified the UK public over COVID-19 mismanagement as well as squandering vast amounts of taxpayers’ money in the hopes of finding a “miraculous” Covid-19 vaccine.
