Costa Del Sol Hospital finally receives approval for expansion

Bendodo explained that the main goal is to update the project that has been left at a standstill by the previous autonomous government and as a result has failed to meet the demand of an area of ​​the province “so in need of health care”, according to the Ministry in a press release.

While this project is being developed, the Costa del Sol Health Agency, which manages the hospital, is reforming the emergencies department of the Costa del Sol Hospital and the outpatient area, which will be accompanied by new equipment to increase its capacity and alleviate the greater pressure on care, most recently caused by the pandemic.

Bendodo visited the site and supervised other actions that are being carried out in this hospital with Covid funds allocated by the Ministry of Health and Families for the fight against the coronavirus. In total, there are more than 20 improvement projects for almost three million euros.

In his opinion, “there is a chronic structural deficiency of spaces throughout the hospital”, which is aggravated in times of high frequentation and that “has been very evident during the pandemic”.

All the improvements will be complemented by other measures such as the adaptation of access to the hospital also with automated doors.
