BREAKING NEWS – Changes to UK lockdown rules exempt children from ‘rule of two’

Tory ministers announced on Sunday, November 1 a major new exemption for parents during the month-long national lockdown which begins in England at 12:01am on Thursday, November 5.

Under the exemption, babies and toddlers will no longer count towards a two-person limit on meet-ups in open spaces. This means that a parent will still be able to meet another person even if they are carrying a children their arms.

Health Minister Nadine Dorries confirmed the move on Twitter. She said: “Children under school age who are with their parents will not count towards the limit on two people meeting outside.

“This will mean that a parent can see a friend or family member with their baby or young children.”

“Children and adults who are dependent on round-the-clock care, such as those with severe disabilities, will also be included.

“The guidance will be updated to reflect this.”

The lockdown is set to be reviewed on December 2.
