LAS VEGAS world-famous New Year’s Eve firework show has been cancelled

Anyone planning to ring in the New Year in Las Vegas to say a final farewell to 2020 may be disappointed, as the world-famous firework show on The Strip has been cancelled.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority announced on Thursday, October 29 that The Strip’s world-renowned pyrotechnics display will not ring in 2021.

“Las Vegas has always been a bucket list New Year’s Eve destination,” LVCVA CEO Steve Hill said in a statement. “But as we have said throughout the year, the safety and security of our guests and employees is our top priority, and with that in mind, we will not have a fireworks show on December 31st.”

However, in true Vegas style, the iconic city still has plenty to offer this festive season. According to Hill: “We have some special things planned to welcome 2021 with the hope and promise it brings.”
