Dying woman pens letter to herself

DYING woman pens letter to herself in the hope of inspiring others to live their best life

Ruth Hunt, an Australian army captain, had been battling stage three breast cancer for four years. Now, after being given just days to live by doctors, the brave woman has penned an open letter to her former self to help others prioritise their lives.

The letter to her pre-cancer self supplied to 7News, sets out six simple steps to living a better life.

The first lesson is to always ‘ask for help’ from loved ones. “Not only is it ok to ask for help, but it will actually make life a lot easier,” she says.

In lesson two, Ruth urges everyone to treasure your family and spend as much time with them as you can.

Lesson three, she says, is to stress less and not sweat the small stuff.

Ruth’s fourth lesson is that “dogs are awesome” and one of life’s great joys.

Lesson five is that it’s ok to say no and recognise when people are taking advantage of you. “The earlier you learn to say no, the better,” Ruth added.

The final lesson is to “travel as far and as wide as you can”.
