Team GB runner Chris Smith is missing as his family grows desperate

TEAM GB runner Chris Smith is missing as his family grows desperate to find him and bring him home.

Mr. Smith, who helped Team GB win bronze in the European Mountain Running Championships in Italy in 2016, has been missing since Tuesday.

The family of the 43-year-old is desperate to find him after he failed to return from his run from Invervar in Perthshire, which he began at about 3pm on Tuesday, according to BBC Scotland.

The experienced mountain runner planned to run four Munros in Glen Lyon before returning at about 5pm.

In a statement, Chris Smith’s family said any information would be “hugely appreciated” and that they “desperately want to bring Chris home.”

Smith, who also represented Great Britain in international mountain running competitions, is being searched for by the Tayside Mountain Rescue Team, the police, and a Coastguard helicopter.

According to the Team GB runner’s sister-in-law, Elaine: “We’re thinking that something has gone wrong at some point on his run, [as the run would normally be “no hard task” for Chris].

She added: “I guess our hope at this moment is that maybe he’s been slightly injured and he’s sheltering somewhere because he’s not able to walk.

“Certainly, that’s our hope at the moment, and we’ve got to remain positive, which is what we’re doing.”

He was on holiday with his wife and sons when he went missing.
